Investigation commenced to find why the work on Jaffna Nagadeepa Buddhist statue had stopped
The work on the construction of the Buddha statue at Jaffna Nagadeepa estimated to be built at a cost of rupees 12 billion had been stopped on the orders of the Government Agent of Jaffna. The Government Agent had conveyed in writhing to stop work in connection with the construction of the Buddha statue.An investigation has been ordered to be made in this regard.
The chief incumbent of the Nagadeepa viharaya Venerable Nawadagala Padmakiththi thera had reported this matter to the Minister of mass communication and media Gayantha Karunatilleke when the thera had met the Minister.
The thera had added that there is a political conspiracy behind this stoppage,Minister Gayantha Karunatilleke had promised the thera that an investigation in this regard would be held.
