Astrologer Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni who made a false forecast sometime back about President Maithripala Sirisena was taken into custody this evening (31), the CID revealed.

He predicted that the President would lose his life on the 26th; but even until today the 31st the President is hale and hearty. Having realised that his forecast had not hit the bull's eye, he has now gone to the extent of saying that because of a retrogade

Vijitha Rohana who tried to come into focus in the ante-Indian JVP by dealing a blow on the Late Rajiv Gandhi with a rifle butt at the guard-of-honour when the Indian Prime Minister arrived on Sri Lankan soil for the purpose of signing the Indo-Lanka Agreement was taken into custody, subsequently serving a jail sentence. Later on within his cell he had perused the subject of Astrology to some extent and with the intention of once more coming into focus by making forecasts of a revolutionary nature. He had made the forecast relating to the death of the President and  in the process has been involved in making various statements across the YouTube of the internet boasting that a host of his forecast had hit the bull's eye. However his prediction about the President was considered by distinguished Astrologers as being ante-moralistic right from the start itself. It is said that a true Astrologer even if he observes a phenomenon of death in somebody's chart it never would be disclosed in the presence of that person; particularly in relation to the death of a President being repeatedly forecast without any fear and in such a degrading manner as well.

The reason for arresting him, the police say is that he has brought disrepute to the President by publicising false predictions that lead the public astray simply for the sake of achieving some narrow gain. He is expected to be produced before courts tomorrow.
