Kolonnawa workers obstruct train transporting fuel to airport
The heated situation which flared up near Kolonnawa Petrol storage facility that came under Army control after last night's operations has still not subsided as such.
The demonstrators have protested expressing their protest against the train which came to Kolonnawa petrol storage terminal to collect fuel by lying down
along the railway track saying that they will not allow fuel to be taken. As a result, armed Army personnel were summoned separately to remove the demonstrators from there. As a consequence anti-riot units and 4 water-cannon vehicles had been called to the spot already with a heavy traffic congestion being created along Kolonnawa - Colombo main route in the process.This commotion has taken place when this train was on its way to collect petrol required for the airport. Even prior to this some workers have attempted to hamper distribution by deflating tyres of bowsers.
