The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka and multi-religious leaders have emphasized that Navaneethen Pillay who is making baseless allegations against independent states and encouraging terrorism which destroys peace, should be evicted.
The handing over of a petition expressing dire protest to the report containing false facts on Sri Lanka and forwarded to the Geneva Human Rights Council, to the President, the US Embassy and the United Nations Office took place this morning. The Sri Lanka Human Rights Organization took the lead in its organization. Multi religious clergy who arrived in a walk handed over the petition.
Addressing a media briefing in this respect, the multi-religious clergy and the Sri Lanka Human Rights Organization said they strongly deplored the accusations made against a Government which truly protects human rights.
Director General of the Human Rights Organization of Sri Lanka M.N.M. Asim said that there is no country in the world such as Sri Lanka which has fast developed after ending the war. As a human rights outfit, he said they were proposing that Navaneethen Pillay is not suitable for the post of Human Rights Commissioner. She should be moderate in the discharge of her work. Before completing her term of office her intention is to do something against Sri Lanka. He said that everyone should join hands and support the President
