Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L. Ratnayake has said that significant facilities have been assured to differently-abled persons to cast their votes in the Western and Southern Provincial Council polls.
Expressing views to ITN, Mr. Ratnayake said that today was the last day given for differently-abled persons to apply for permission for the use of a private vehicle to visit the polling booth to cast the ballot. Applications could be forwarded until 12 midnight today. The application form should be duly filled and forwarded with a medical certificate. It should be submitted to the Elections Office in their respective areas.
The Additional Elections Commissioner said that everyone should forward an identity card to consolidate their identity during voting. Advanced notice was given to those who do not possess identity cards to secure a temporary identity card issued by the Elections Department. Considerable time was given for such voters to secure temporary identity cards. This period drew to an end today.
