President Rajapaksa participated in religious observances at the historic Kataragama Sacred Area.
The President after arriving in the Kataragama Sacred Site participated in religious observances and secured blessings. He engaged in religious observances held near the Kirivehera Temple.
Thereafter he joined in a special pooja held at the Kataragama Maha Devale.
The President also engaged in religious observances at the other Devales and also in the Mosque located in the Kataragama Sacred Area.
The President made inquiries into the welfare of the devotees who had thronged the Sacred Area and exchange pleasantries with them. Chief Incumbent of the Kataragama Kirivehera Raja Maha Vihare the Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda Thera, Uva Provincial Chief Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa and Presidential Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath were among those who joined the President in these events at Kataragama.
